  ABOUT JOANNE:

I have been teaching Piano  for over 30 years. I have extensive teaching experience in New Zealand, Nagoya, Japan for 1 year and Vienna, Austria for 12 years, Since my relocation to New Zealand, I have established my Piano Teaching Business 'Von Trapp Music Academy'. In Vienna, I was the Representative for Austria for the ABRSM ( Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music), while teaching Piano full time at the Vienna International School to students from a wide range of abilities, and diverse backgrounds.   I am an accomplished classical pianist and accompanist, and I perform regularly accompanying both amateur and other professional classical instrumentalists, as well as a soloist and chamber musician. I am also a Classical and Jazz Examiner for Trinity College of Music, London.

MY PERSONAL TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

"Every child comes to our world with Musical ability, either on a personal level, professional level, or both, and I aim to create in my students a lifelong love of Music" I encourage my students to never give up on their goals, no matter what paths or streams they need to cross along their musical journey, but to keep striving to reach their musical goals and potential. It is my duty as a Music teacher to foster and inspire this natural capacity. I provide my students with every single bit of information that I can, to guide them through their Musical Journey. Ultimately, however, it is the role of the teacher to take the student to the point where they do not need us anymore.

Music is a necessary part of life, and children need the beauty and expression of music just as much as they need to know how to read and multiply.

WHERE DO I STAND AS A TEACHER:

As a Teacher, I believe my Tuition is unique, and I continue to customize my lessons to accommodate the needs and    learning styles of each Individual student.

I continue my own learning and research by my commitment to practicing regularly, attending Music seminars,       masterclasses, workshops and concerts. I thrive on passing on my passion and enthusiasm for music to my students, and I make it a priority to keep lessons fresh, interesting and exciting.
